Why You Should Book Your Wedding Videographer Early to Avoid Disappointment
If you’ve started planning your wedding day, you’ve probably realised how quickly the best suppliers get booked up. The following applies to photographers, florists, stylists, bands and many other aspects of a wedding, not just videographers.
These days, it’s easy to see everything as an attempt to create FOMO (“Fear of Missing Out”) to try and pressure couples into booking, however the wedding industry is very focused on dates and timing.
As a wedding videographer, I know how many messages and emails I get enquiring about dates which have long since been booked, and the disappointment which follows that. Nearly every week I have to unfortunately turn people away because their date has long since been booked.
It might seem crazy to people outside of the industry that people start booking things two years in advance, and sometimes more, but it’s absolutely true.
To put this into perspective, as I write this in October 2025, my 2027 diary is around 45% full.
So here’s why you should book your wedding videographer early to avoid disappointment.
Don’t forget to enquire about your date with me too - at least then you’ll know one way or another if I’m potentially available for your wedding!
Popular Dates Disappear Fast
Just like venues and photographers, I can only film one wedding on any given date since cloning myself is impossible.
Once your date is taken, it’s gone. Key summer weekends, bank holidays, and popular autumn Saturdays are often booked up 18 - 24 months in advance.
If you love my work and can see how i’d make an amazing film out of your date, reaching out early is always a smart idea.
Stress Less as Your Date Approaches
Wedding planning is stressful at the best of times. By securing your big suppliers early, such as your wedding videographer, you’ll relax more and not feel such pressure as the day gets closer.
Yes, last minute booking is possible, and it’s always a pleasant surprise when someone messages me a few weeks before their wedding and it happens to be a date I can do, but that’s the exception not the rule.
By booking early it also means that you can secure the wedding videographer you really want, rather than the one which is the only one available. Which leads me onto…
Secure Your Dream Wedding Videographer
Every wedding videographer has their own creative style. Some will be perfect for your wedding and others won’t be.
That means that when you see the films by a wedding videographer which get you excited, you should reach out to them straight away.
The earlier you book, the more likely you’ll find someone whose style perfectly matches your vision. Wait too long, and you might have to compromise and book one of the videographers who won’t provide that dream film.
You’ll Probably Save Money
It’s not always guaranteed, but more often than not by booking early, you’ll save money in the long run.
I’ll just focus on myself here, but it likely applies to most wedding suppliers.
As the cost of running a business and cost of living goes up, along with inflation, prices tend to go up year-on-year.
When you book me, you book the price I’m charging at that time, so if the price goes up afterwards, you don’t get anything extra added to your final invoice. If you wait around, you might end up paying a bit more in the end.
I should say I haven’t put prices up in two years as I know money is tight for everyone - but at some point that will have to change!
Check Your Date Today
It should also go without saying that talking to suppliers about your date isn’t making a commitment. If you’re not ready to book, you shouldn’t, and anyone who says otherwise should probably be avoided for trying to pressure you.
