Why You Should Book Your Wedding Videographer Early to Avoid Disappointment

Don’t miss out on your dream wedding videographer! Learn why booking early secures your date, your story, and the film you’ll treasure forever.

If you’ve started planning your wedding day, you’ve probably realised how quickly the best suppliers get booked up. The following applies to photographers, florists, stylists, bands and many other aspects of a wedding, not just videographers.

These days, it’s easy to see everything as an attempt to create FOMO (“Fear of Missing Out”) to try and pressure couples into booking, however the wedding industry is very focused on dates and timing.

As a wedding videographer, I know how many messages and emails I get enquiring about dates which have long since been booked, and the disappointment which follows that. Nearly every week I have to unfortunately turn people away because their date has long since been booked.

It might seem crazy to people outside of the industry that people start booking things two years in advance, and sometimes more, but it’s absolutely true.

To put this into perspective, as I write this in October 2025, my 2027 diary is around 45% full.

So here’s why you should book your wedding videographer early to avoid disappointment.

Don’t forget to enquire about your date with me too - at least then you’ll know one way or another if I’m potentially available for your wedding!

Popular Dates Disappear Fast

Just like venues and photographers, I can only film one wedding on any given date since cloning myself is impossible.

Once your date is taken, it’s gone. Key summer weekends, bank holidays, and popular autumn Saturdays are often booked up 18 - 24 months in advance.

If you love my work and can see how i’d make an amazing film out of your date, reaching out early is always a smart idea.

Stress Less as Your Date Approaches

Wedding planning is stressful at the best of times. By securing your big suppliers early, such as your wedding videographer, you’ll relax more and not feel such pressure as the day gets closer.

Yes, last minute booking is possible, and it’s always a pleasant surprise when someone messages me a few weeks before their wedding and it happens to be a date I can do, but that’s the exception not the rule.

By booking early it also means that you can secure the wedding videographer you really want, rather than the one which is the only one available. Which leads me onto…

Secure Your Dream Wedding Videographer

Every wedding videographer has their own creative style. Some will be perfect for your wedding and others won’t be.

That means that when you see the films by a wedding videographer which get you excited, you should reach out to them straight away.

The earlier you book, the more likely you’ll find someone whose style perfectly matches your vision. Wait too long, and you might have to compromise and book one of the videographers who won’t provide that dream film.

You’ll Probably Save Money

It’s not always guaranteed, but more often than not by booking early, you’ll save money in the long run.

I’ll just focus on myself here, but it likely applies to most wedding suppliers.

As the cost of running a business and cost of living goes up, along with inflation, prices tend to go up year-on-year.

When you book me, you book the price I’m charging at that time, so if the price goes up afterwards, you don’t get anything extra added to your final invoice. If you wait around, you might end up paying a bit more in the end.

I should say I haven’t put prices up in two years as I know money is tight for everyone - but at some point that will have to change!

Check Your Date Today

It should also go without saying that talking to suppliers about your date isn’t making a commitment. If you’re not ready to book, you shouldn’t, and anyone who says otherwise should probably be avoided for trying to pressure you.

How I Blend Cinematic and Documentary Styles to Make Your South Wales Wedding Film

By blending cinematic visuals with a documentary approach, you get a wedding film that’s not just beautiful to watch but deeply personal.

Every couple I work with across South Wales, from Pembrokeshire, down the Gower, to around Cardiff, books me me the same thing: they want their wedding film to feel real, but also beautifully cinematic. That balance is what drives every wedding film I create.

For me, your wedding film should be more than just a record of the day. It should capture the emotion, atmosphere and energy of the people and the place.

Whether it’s a rustic Pembrokeshire barn or a modern Cardiff venue in the city, my goal is to create something timeless that feels like your day.

See my wedding film packages here before reading on about my style…

Cinematic Wedding Videography: Beautifully Crafted Films

Cinematic wedding videography is all about emotion and atmosphere. Using movement, composition, and music, I create films that look and feel like movies. Aerial drone shots, slow motion and natural light all play a part in giving your story visual depth and emotion.

I use your ceremony vows and speeches to add a personal touch to your film, and focus all day on the special connection you have with your partner.

Filming in South Wales makes this style beautiful — from the golden beaches of Pembrokeshire, to the sprawling cliffs of Gower, the landscape itself becomes part of your story.

My cinematic approach allows me to show the beauty of those surroundings while keeping the focus on your connection and your moments together.

Documentary Wedding Videography: Capturing the Genuine Moments

Documentary style filming is where the truth of your day shines through. I don’t stage or interrupt moments.

Instead, I quietly observe and capture things as they happen. The laughter between friends, the nervous excitement before the ceremony, the unexpected dance floor moments… these are the details that make your film real.

At a recent Cardiff wedding, some of my favourite clips weren’t planned at all: a quick hug between parents before walking down the aisle, a stolen glance during the speeches. Those spontaneous moments tell the story of your day far better than anything posed ever could.

When featured in your film, these small moments become hugely emotional and impactful. And best of all, the people involved in the moments didn’t even know I was filming them.

How I Combine Both Styles

By blending cinematic visuals with a documentary approach, you get a wedding film that’s not just beautiful to watch but deeply personal. Every wedding film includes cinematic sequences that flow naturally from real, candid moments — never forced or scripted.

I use cinematic techniques like lighting, colour and sound design to enhance the genuine emotion I’ve already captured.

The end result is a wedding film that looks stunning but feels completely authentic — a true reflection of your story.

Why This Approach Works for Your Wedding

A wedding film is more than just a record of the day — it’s a story you’ll return to again and again, a way to relive the laughter, the tears, and the moments you’ll treasure forever.

By blending cinematic artistry with authentic, documentary-style storytelling, your film captures both the beauty and the emotion of your wedding, creating something truly timeless.

Don’t settle for ordinary footage that fades into memory — invest in a wedding film you’ll watch for the rest of your life. Get in touch today and let’s start crafting your story.

South Wales Wedding Videographer and Content Creator

Do you choose a wedding videographer or a wedding content creator for your wedding? With my wedding film and content creation package, you don’t have to choose!

Do I book a wedding videographer or wedding content creator?

That’s a question I know a lot of couples across South Wales have when they’re in the middle of wedding planning.

For me, the answer is simple: both, because I can do both for you!

My content creation add-on is just £275 and can be included with any of my wedding film packages.

The reality is it’s very easy to get candid, raw, behind the scenes content on a phone as I film a wedding day, and I’m there all day for the biggest and most important moments.

That’s why over the last 18 months nearly all of the couples who have booked me have decided to have my affordable Content Creation Extra with my wedding videography packages.

Here’s five simple reasons why my content creation add-on makes perfect sense for your South Wales wedding:

1. You get complete coverage of your day

As your wedding videographer, I’ll be at every key moment of your wedding day with you, and the rest of the time I’ll be with your guests and capturing moments you’re not involved in.

This means you get comprehensive coverage for your wedding film, but also your content creation.

2. It’s an affordable content creation package

Hiring an individual content creator can cost anywhere from £400 - £1000 depending on the person and package. This is understandable as it’s their fee for the day, including travel, administration and overheads.

However, as I’m already at your wedding as your videograpger, I’ve priced my content creation at just £275 which covers the entire duration I’m at your wedding. By booking content creation through me you can save hundreds of pounds.

3. Content creators usually stick with me anyway

To be clear, I have no problem working with other content creators and I’m friends with lots of them, but even they’ll admit they spend most of the day with the photographer and videographer.

This means that you have one extra person around you at all times (which can be challenging in smaller wedding venues or wedding venues with tight spaces) and get most of the content from the perspective I have of the day anyway.

4. I get content like any other content creator would

My films are shot to be cinematic and story-driven, but I know that’s not what wedding content creation is about.

When I film content creation at weddings, I get the raw moments as they are in front of me.

That means you get the best of both worlds: a beautiful, cinematic wedding film to watch back for the rest of your life and raw content clips to share with your friends and post on social media in the days and weeks afterwards.

5. You get everything on the night of your wedding

Every bit of content I get from your wedding I’ll send over to you before you’ve even gone to bed. That means the next morning you wake up as newlyweds and have all of the files waiting for you.

Remember, I also send you a trailer of your wedding film the next day as well, so you get both perspectives of the memories within 24 hours of getting married!

Does it matter if your wedding videographer hasn’t filmed at your wedding venue before?

“Have you worked at this venue before?” is one of the most commonly asked questions I must get from couples. But does that matter?

“Have you worked at this venue before?” is one of the most commonly asked questions I must get from couples.

Often, couples are looking for examples from me for their specific venue, which I understand. You want to see how your day might look, what shots might be used, and ultimately feel at ease that your wedding videographer will be able to get the best from your day.

However, working at a new venue isn’t a challenge for a professional - in fact, for most of us, it’s one of the most exciting parts of the job.

Just to give some examples, these are all films that were shot when I filmed at a new venue for the first time:

And these weren’t just venues I had never worked at before - I hadn’t even visited them until the day of the wedding itself.

Working at venues you know inside and out is great, don’t get me wrong. I’ve filmed dozens of weddings at Gellifawr, The Cliff and Fairyhill for example. There’s not an angle or perspective I haven’t shot from at those locations and I still love going back to them time and time again.

But as a creative person I enjoy new experiences and keeping things fresh. That’s why when a new venue pops up in conversation with a couple, I genuinely get excited.

When I first visit a new venue, I’m excited to explore. Everything is new, I’m taking in all of the angles, looking for hidden spots, and picturing all of the possibilities. My imagination is running at full steam.

You might think that everything being new will mean that it’s harder for your day to run to plan, but this isn’t true at all. Before every wedding I always have a thorough planning call with the couple and anything that will relate to logisitics of the day will be discussed there.

Basically, if you’re hiring a professional who has a lot of experience and knows how to make a film out of everything, for them a new venue isn’t a challenge in the slightest.

This applies to many other suppliers too. Photographers will be able to work similarly to videographers, florists and stylists will be able to make any room pop, etc.

So, if one of your key requirements when hiring wedding suppliers for your wedding day is experience at your venue, hopefully this perspective might change your mind!
